We start with our reference manual, Kaplan GED Test Prep 2018 : 2 Practice Tests + Proven Strategies (Revised), available at most book stores and superstores like Walmart. If the student has one already, great! if not, we will supply the book, the GED-mandated TI-30XS calculator and a five-section composition notebook!

Yes, if the student still complains that they don't have the additional basics like pens and pencils... We are happy to cover that too! No more excuses, let's start looking at materials in the Kaplan GED book, starting with the Pre-Tests!

The Kaplan GED Book Pre-Tests (there are eleven of them and the cover all FOUR major GED topics) offer our Master Instructor a road map as to where the student's proficiency AND comfort level are with the material. These Pre-Tests are administered in person, and the results are carefully used to evaluate major gaps to be covered in preparing for the GED.

When comfort, proficiency AND student commitment are established, we go NEXT level: using the portal at myGED.com. The student gets a loaner "GED Bag-O-Tricks" where they receive a laptop and keep it to do homework in between sessions. As an intermediary step, the Instructor may have the bag and not give it to the student, waiting until the time is appropriate.

All of the tools above - most importantly the loaner laptop - go into one convenient laptop bag, which is inspected by our Master Instructor every session. The sessions are also used to administer paid practice tests on myGED.com so that their progress is evaluated and the work plan can be adjusted.

Yes, it is all tracked: The student is provided a program-issued GED email account, and the progress and work from the youth is tracked between sessions. During the sessions, practice GED tests are taken (all paid for by the MathPlus Group) and the measured outcomes can be used to adjust and optimize!

No internet at home? No problem. Student hard to reach? We got that covered. For those who are presenting communication or connectivity issues, we will also include a TracFone with USB tethering capability and pre-paid data! This is to let the world know that we are SERIOUS, and that we have Batphones too!

Motivation Needed? We put a prize on it. Most of our GED students are promised a prize if they complete their GED testing and pass, through our MATHPLUS BUCKS program (www.atlmathplus.com/mathplusbucks). The prizes are purchased in advance, and the disclosure and gifting is at the discretion of our Master Instructors. It's all part of our plan to get to the other side of the fence as quickly as possible!!!

With all of these resources in place, it's up to the student and the home to get through these levels! After that, it's scheduling the student for the test, one section at a time, once they show through myGED.com testing that they are ready. Four passing tests later, we have a graduate!
