World Youth Served, Inc. ("WYS") is now seeking your support to raise emergency funds to assist those in Jérémie, Haiti, who were devastated by the 7.2-magnitude earthquake in the area on August 14, 2021. To make matters worse, another earthquake occurred on October 15, 2021, leaving many vital infrastructures in ruins. WYS is starting its fundraising efforts by offering a copy of the Jérémie poem book “MOSAIQUE DE MOTS” (French/English) in return for a small donation.
JEREMIE FEATURE: “ORPHELINAT PERPETUEL SECOURS”
Through our Logistics Partner, we now have an opportunity to work with the ÒFELINA PERPÉTUEL SECOURS ("Perpétuel Secours Orphanage") in Jérémie, Haiti. The orphanage serves about 40 youth; however, it has now found itself going through some very hard times after the devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake that severely damaged the area. In the aftermath, there have been several aftershocks (3.0 to 5.0 magnitude) with little to no government support. As of November 2021, there are now gas, food and water shortages all over the country. To date, our partner has been able to procure food for the orphans to have one basic meal daily. Additional requests for the orphanage include bedding, sports balls and backpacks. - By FTK USA
MOSAIQUE DE MOTS
“Mosaïque de Mots” is a bilingual French/English book of poems written by Dr. Raymond Rene, a native of Jérémie. “Mosaïque de Mots” takes the reader through Jérémie as if going into a time machine, reliving Dr. Rene’s childhood and adolescence. With brilliant penmanship, Dr. Rene is not shy about sharing his feelings about his hometown of Jérémie; entering his personal world from page to page introduces the important people in his life, even his siblings who have passed. The book contains some pictures to provide the reader with a visual aid to the wonderfully written verses. And towards the end of the book, Dr. Rene provides some thoughts of wisdom from a long, full and well-lived life. Dr. Rene is a retired medical doctor living in South Florida, USA, and has worked as an obstetrician and gynecologist for over 35 years, both in Haiti and in the US.
Previously, the World Youth Served “Mosaïque de Mots” campaign helped raise funds for the implementation of programs (including attempts to launch a school of arts and crafts) in Jérémie.
